[CCoE Notice] Best Dissertation Award Winner - Summer and Fall 2018

Dear Colleagues:



As you are aware, the College of Engineering selects a Best Dissertation for the PhD students graduating in Summer and Fall and one for those graduating in Spring.  Each department selects the best departmental dissertation awardee.  The College committee consisting of a member from each department/program selects the final winner.  This Fall, we had seven outstanding dissertations submitted for competition.  Each of these nominees had published papers in high impact factor journals and won many awards and were part of the patents that are being filed by the University.



Kyoseung Sim who finished his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Cunjiang Yu last Summer is the winner of Best Dissertation Award.  The title of his dissertation is, Materials and Manufacture of Soft and Curvilinear Electronics.



Dr. Sim published a dozen papers, half of them as first authors, based on his research at the University of Houston.  Four additional papers are currently under review.  He also published 19 other papers based on his research work done prior to coming to UH.  Congratulations to Kyoseung and his major professor.  The Best dissertation award carries $1,000 cash prize and a plaque.  Kyoseung will be recognized at the Engineering Commencement on December 13, 2018.
