Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff:

I often refer to the Cullen College of Engineering as the University of Houston’s tour de force. Our faculty and students generate more research expenditures than any other college; the best and brightest students accepted into the University are our engineering students; and our award-winning academic and student success programs are often cited as models for the other institutions across the country.

As individuals, each and every member of this community is powerful. But when we come together for a common cause, we are a powerhouse.

That’s why it comes as no surprise to me that for the 8th year in a row, the Cullen College raised more money than any other college on the UH campus. Moreover, we exceeded our campaign goal of $30,000, raising a total of $31,607.20.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the SECC campaign, and a very special thank you to all of the staff members who graciously served as coordinators for this campaign. Roshawnda Anderson (Cullen College of Engineering coordinator), Ting Chen (biomedical engineering department coordinator), Tiffany McBride (chemical and biomolecular engineering department coordinator), Cherish Wallace (civil and environmental engineering department coordinator), Sandra Sierra (Dean’s office coordinator), Loretta Herbek (electrical and computer engineering department coordinator), Philip Abraham (industrial engineering department coordinator), Catherine Ingco (mechanical engineering department coordinator) and Rosemary Smith (petroleum engineering department coordinator) were all instrumental in ensuring we exceeded our fundraising goal!

I would also like to extend my congratulations to the faculty and staff members of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, who raised more than any other unit in the college with a total of $11,603.20 in donations.

I am so proud to be a part of our UH Engineering community and to work with each and every one of you. Thank you all so much again for your incredible generosity!

Sincerely,

Joseph W. Tedesco Ph.D., P.E., F. ASCE

Elizabeth D. Rockwell Dean
