[Hurrifaculty] Update on Texas General Land Office (TGLO) Request for Proposal (RFP) Opportunity

[Hurricane Resilience]

Dear UH faculty,



As of this writing, it is our understanding that the TGLO still plans to solicit proposals for planning projects related to disaster resilience in Texas impacted counties. Release of the Request for Proposals (RFP) is anticipated to be sometime in late summer or early fall.



Based on information that the TGLO has shared with Texas Universities, the following are important details:



- The amount of funding that will be made available for planning grants is approximately 137 million dollars

- Planning studies can be submitted from a public university or a vendor from the state of Texas

- The TGLO plans to "concentrate on regional approaches in addition to specific local solutions to promote sound and long-term recovery"

- Houston or Harris County are outside the scope of the RFP because the City and County are managing their own HUD monies

- In the RFP, the TGLO will provide a list of projects that they plan on funding. The list will come from their outreach  to local officials in the impacted counties



If you have a project concept as a PI or co-PI with others from UH or other TX institutions/vendors, please fill out and submit the attached form to hurri at uh.edu AND copy the appropriate individual shown in the list below so that we can explore regionalization opportunities and/or possibly matching your project with the list of projects that TGLO will provide when they release the RFP.
