[University of Houston]

Dear Faculty, Students and Staff,

In response to Harris County’s Stay Home, Work Safe order, the University of Houston is taking preventive measures to limit human contact on our campuses by reverting all building entrances to controlled access. The access control applies to all buildings at UH, including UH at Katy and UH at Sugar Land beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27th through Friday, April 3rd, the expiration date for the County’s order.

During this period, a valid UH Cougar Card will be required to enter buildings via electronic card access. Also during this period, the buildings will have limited custodial services based upon the reduced occupancy. Regular service will resume once the Stay Home, Work Safe order has ended.

Any faculty, staff or student who does not have a valid Cougar Card can make an appointment<https://cloudapps.uh.edu/sendit/l/GTQxENDHdWKXPbLvMEOllQ/0hVTCCZHImy7nsYg892np892AQ/z9Qi763KQEuFqKBbwOV892QPQA> with the Cougar Card Office to have a new card issued. Appointments are available weekdays 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The UH Police Department is available to allow access on a case by case basis during this period outside of normal business hours and may also issue temporary Cougar Cards. Contact UHPD at 713-743-3333. Cards are issued at the police station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Thank you for your patience as the University strives to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being.

Sincerely,
David Oliver
Associate Vice President for Facilities
