[CCoE Notice] Work from home technical support

Good afternoon,

With everyone in the college working from home, I want to let everyone know that our team will continue to provide technical support to the staff and faculty similar to how we used to in-person.  We are available both via email and office phone numbers.

The same procedure applies during the work at home period.
Eric Stern - handles Windows desktop issues (713-743-1387 EJStern at Central.UH.EDU)
Shenoy - handles Linux issues (713-743-8447 mshenoy at Central.UH.EDU)
Kiet Luong - handles servers and other technical services (713-743-9974 kdluong at central.uh.edu)

Please do not email the whole team, but only to the person handling the appropriate issue.  When in doubt as to who to contact, please reach out to me and I will forward to the appropriate team member.  This is to prevent confusion and make sure the person who handles the case is aware of it.

Students and lab/research staff should email their faculty for technical requests, then the faculty approves then forward to the appropriate technical support team member.  This is to make sure the faculty approves and is aware of the requests/changes being made on their computer equipment.

There had been numerous VPN and network-related issues on campus since work at home started, but we have notified the network team every chance we have.  In the meantime, all we can really do is continue to try to connect or reconnect whenever there's a disconnect or latency.  Attached is an email explaining the need for VPN and only connect if needed.
