Good morning,
I’m sure everyone received the Wifi changes announcement from David Johnson below. Please make sure you’re connecting to UHSecure (cougarnet\username) or eduroam (username at cougarnet.uh.edu<mailto:username at cougarnet.uh.edu>) when using your laptops for printing, web surfing, access file shares, access One Drive, etc. on campus. If you’re just needing to connect to the wireless network to only surf the internet, then UHWireless will work. However, UHWireless is unsecured compared to UHSecure and eduroam, which means you should not visit websites to check on your financial or confidential information.
For details about the wireless network on campus, please visit www.uh.edu/infotech then click on “Wireless.”
Thanks,

Subject: Changes to UHWireless on March 9th
[University of Houston - University Information Technology]
Good Evening Faculty and Staff,
Wi-Fi services to the UH campus, including UH Sugar Land and UH Katy locations, will undergo some changes over Spring Break. If you are logging into UHSecure for your Wi-Fi connection, nothing will change. If you are using UHWireless, the unauthenticated guest access, you might notice minor changes. You will still be able to do everything you can do on any Wi-Fi or home internet connection. If you must connect to a UH service that is ONLY available on campus, such as for printing or to make calls from your office on Skype for Business, then you will need to log in through UHSecure or Eduroam with your CougarNet credentials. Consistent with university policy, UHSecure requires authentication and provides encryption; therefore, protecting UH systems and ensuring your privacy and the safety of your transactions.
The IT Support Center (reachable by email at support at uh.edu<mailto:support at uh.edu> or by phone/text at 3-1411) will be available to help if you have any problems. Wi-Fi users who need help with printing, setting up devices, or resetting their CougarNet password can find instructions on the UIT website or can contact the helpdesk. The change will take place on March 9th.
