Sent on behalf of Dean Tedesco

Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff,

It is with equal parts pride and sadness that I announce the departure of Audrey Grayson, executive director of communications, to pursue an opportunity with the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C. Her last day with us will be Friday, January 4.

Audrey joined UH in January of 2013 to lead our efforts in raising awareness and improving perceptions of the Cullen College of Engineering. In her time with us, Audrey has gone above and beyond in both meeting and exceeding these goals – she has raised the bar for the Cullen College’s communications and marketing efforts higher than it has ever been before.

Audrey’s successes and contributions in leading the college’s communications team have received attention both inside and outside of the UH community. She earned the junior-level Outstanding Staff Award in 2016. Under her leadership, the engineering communications team won “Best Reputation/Brand Management” from the Public Relations Society of America as well as a Crystal Award from the American Marketing Association for Parameters<https://www.egr.uh.edu/office-communications/work/parameters-archives> magazine in 2018.

Although it is difficult to say goodbye to a member of our community, Audrey leaves behind a well-oiled communications machine at the Cullen College, which will continue to thrive under interim director Rachel Knudsen. Please feel free to reach out to Rachel (riward at central.uh.edu<mailto:riward at central.uh.edu>) with any communications or marketing needs during this period of transition.

Until then, please join me in congratulating Audrey on her new opportunity. She will be sorely missed, but the excellent work she leaves behind here will ensure she will always be remembered.

Sincerely,

Joseph W. Tedesco Ph.D., P.E., F. ASCE
