Dear UH Engineering faculty, staff and students,
Despite the tragic circumstances, I don’t believe I have ever been happier to walk into the UH Engineering building as I was today. Seeing so many of your smiling faces brought me relief – a feeling I haven’t had in some time – and watching you all make the best of a terrible situation fills me with pride. I can’t imagine the hardships so many of you must be going through. Yet, here you are, working with a smile, exemplifying a form of resilience, kindness and strength I didn’t know existed before now.
Like so many others throughout the region, our college was deeply impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Damages to our facilities are isolated to Engineering Building 2 and include flooding and water damage. A third party vendor, Cotton, is currently assessing the damage and conducting repairs throughout the building. As a result, there are a few things to be aware of regarding our buildings but nothing that will prevent us from resuming normal activities.
Some of the impacted areas in Building 2 are currently roped off with caution tape to signify that workers are conducting repairs. While we urge caution while walking through these areas due to the ongoing repairs, you are not prohibited from entering these portions of the building.
As a result of the damages, several operations in Building 2 have been moved:
* Career Center has relocated to Engineering Building 1, room N302
* Undergraduate advising has relocated to Engineering Building 1, the pit (1st floor)
* Graduate students should check with their individual faculty advisors with questions or concerns
For engineering students who were adversely impacted by the hurricane, a Cougar Emergency Fund was created to provide up to $2,500 of relief funding per student. Please visit http://www.uh.edu/about/offices/enrollment-services/communications-marketing/2017-harvey-fra-final for more information and to apply.

Processingcannot begin until all required documentation is submitted. STEP 1: Letter of explanation You must provide a detailed, typed, signed and dated letter ...
As we work together to find the new “normal” here in the Cullen College I want each of you to know that we are here for you and will provide any help that we can during this difficult time. If you are experiencing extreme circumstances due to the storm, I encourage you to contact me at dean at egr.uh.edu<mailto:dean at egr.uh.edu> so we can provide assistance.
Thank you all so much. Although so much uncertainty lingers in our community, I can promise you one thing with absolute certainty: We will make it through this together and we will come out on the other side stronger than ever.
Sincerely,
Joseph W. Tedesco, Ph. D., P.E.
