[CCoE Notice] FW: MULTIPLE BUILDINGS -- PLANNED ELECTRIC OUTAGE NOTIFICATION (27 DEC - 30 DEC)

Good morning,

Please plan on shutting down computers and electronics in your areas that will not be used during the holiday break.  These power blips have caused damage to electronics (including computers) in the past, so please take precautions to protect them.  If you plan on working remotely during the break, you should either have an individual UPS for your office computer or map directly to the server share that you normally access at work.  I've attached instructions on how to setup and connect to VPN, then use either RDP or map a network share to work from home.  If you do plan on working from home, please contact Eric Stern (estern at uh.edu<mailto:estern at uh.edu>) ASAP to make sure everything is setup BEFORE leaving for the holiday break.

Please also pass this message onto your students and research staff in your areas to make sure they also do the same for lab computers and equipment.

As is done every year during the campus Holiday closure, the Facilities Electric Shop will be conducting campus wide electrical repairs from Dec. 27 - Dec. 30.  This time period is always chosen to cause the least amount of disruption.  These repairs will cause power blips for short periods of time.  In summary, the SERC Building will have these blips on Thursday, Dec. 28.  Engineering Buildings 1 & 2  and MREB will have these blips on Friday, Dec. 29.  The information on the power blips for any labs or space that we have in other buildings is in the attached document.  It doesn't look like ERP will be affected.  Please plan accordingly.

MULTIPLE BUILDINGS - PLANNED ELECTRIC OUTAGE NOTIFICATION

OUTAGE PURPOSE: Facilities Electric Shop will be conducting campus wide electrical repairs Wednesday, 12/27/2017 through Saturday, 12/30/2017.

OUTAGE IMPACT: All buildings listed in the attached will experience power interruptions as stated on the spreadsheet. All equipment requiring electrical power will be interrupted. Most building systems will restart on their own if they only have momentary power interruptions. Facilities technicians shall verify that all main buildings systems are operational. Some generator systems may be activated.  Note:  Interdepartmental equipment should be verified as operational by users after the power interruptions occur. The users are aware.

Attached is the information for all four days. We will also distribute the information for each day in individual emails in an effort to accommodate those that only want to distribute specific impacted dates to their building occupants.
