FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
REMINDER: Building Card Reader Test - Today at 2:45p.m.

Today, Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 2:45 to 3 p.m., the University of Houston Department of Public Safety (UHDPS) will conduct a full-scale test of the card access system campus lockdown. During the test, all doors should lock and most Cougar Cards will be deactivated for the duration of the test. The Health and Biomedical Sciences Building (HBS) and Animal Care Facilities will be exempt and unaffected by the test.

UHDPS encourages you to participate in the test and try your card by swiping doors you normally have access to in your facility. We will be analyzing the results of your test swipes to determine the effectiveness of the lockdown and to fine tune it for the future. Your test swipes will be automatically recorded, so there will be no need to report your test results directly to UHDPS.

During the test, all cards except those for facilities personnel, UHIT and UHDPS should be inactive. Your card should not be expected to work during the test unless you are in one of these groups.

The test will last not more than 15 minutes, and UHDPS will reactivate cards and return doors to their normal schedule not more than 15 minutes after the start of the test.

If you have questions or comments, please contact Ron Harris at rwharris at Central.UH.EDU<mailto:rwharris at Central.UH.EDU>.
