[CCoE Notice] Posting of Fall 2012 final grades - of particular importance if you are giving a final on Wednesday Dec. 19

Short version:
The grade submission deadline for Fall 2012 as currently planned is Friday Dec. 21 at 10:00 AM.  Heads-up if you are giving a final on Wednesday Dec. 19 - quick turnaround on grading will be required to meet this deadline.

Long version:
I am the College of Engineering's faculty representative on the University's Curriculum Committee, and in our meeting last week the Registrar discussed timing on submittal of Fall 2012 grades.  Typically semester grades are due the Monday after commencement, but this fall the University will be closed on that Monday (Dec. 24).  The Registrar's office plans to do the computer runs that are required to close out the semester from Friday afternoon to Sunday, so they need final grades to be uploaded by Friday morning.

I asked the Registrar if faculty with Wednesday finals could just assign incompletes if they can't meet this grade submission deadline.  The Executive Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid was at the meeting and he made the point that incompletes can cause problems for students who are on financial aid in terms of their making "satisfactory academic progress."

If early notice will help, please include the grade submittal deadline of Friday Dec. 21 at 10:00 AM in your planning.
