[CCoE Notice] 2013 Welch Foundation Competition

*Welch Proposals:  Internal College of Engineering Due Date - January 14,
2013*

The Welch Foundation, which supports fundamental chemical research, will be
accepting proposals for the 2013 grant program.  The initial grant amount
for these research grants is $50,000 per year for three (3) years.  All
full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members may apply.


CCE faculty should submit their proposal documents to our engineering team
for review of budget, etc.  We will finalize the documents and then send to
OCG for actual submission to Welch.  As you recall, the University writes
one commitment letter that covers all submission and assures the
eligibility of those submitting.  Then all UH applications are mailed
together, with the University cover letter, to Welch.

Pre-Award Grant Submission Process *





1.     When considering a submission of a grant/contract proposal, the PI
will notify the appropriate Research Administrator (RA) four weeks in
advance, if possible.



2.     When constructing the UH “transmittal,” if the administering unit
for the grant reports to the Dean of Engineering, RAs Hamlett and/or Razo
will assist with the proposal submission (pre-award).



3.     When seeking a cost-share (mandatory or voluntary) and/or IDC
reduction (sponsored mandated and/or voluntary), the request should be
channeled through the appropriate Department Chair.  At least two weeks
must be allowed for cost share and reduced IDC issues to be resolved and
documented.


4.   *  **A current UH Conflict of Interest Form must be on file (for PIs
and co-PIs) before UH will submit a grant/contract proposal to an external
sponsor.*
