Dear Colleagues,****
** **
The following announcement delineates an opportunity for the research
community to suggest to NSF candidate topics at the emerging frontiers of
research and innovation. These would be emerging interdisciplinary topics
that are not currently supported by NSF and could potentially lead to
transformative results that address national needs or a grand challenge.
These ideas will serve as an important input to NSF/ENG's internal
deliberations on defining and selecting research topics for the 2014 EFRI
Solicitation.****

** **
We plan to invite 10 of the submitters of candidate topics to come to NSF
and present and discuss their ideas.****
** **
To submit your idea please go the following url and follow the
instructions. http://www.nsf.gov/eng/efri/efri2014/ (remember to include
one-page pdf).****
** **
This year (NEW), we have also added an additional vehicle (wiki) for
web-based discussion by any interested researchers in the community to
openly present, discuss, and formulate their ideas before its formal
submission. The wiki link is at
https://extwiki.nsf.gov/display/efriwiki2014.****

Warm regards,****
Sohi Rastegar****
