FIRST CHOICE POWER COUGAR IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP
(Senior Student at UH)
The University of Houston Alumni Association (UHAA) announces the availability of a $1,500 First Choice
Power Cougar Impact Scholarship for a student entering their senior year currently attending the University
of Houston in the upcoming Fall semester. The First Choice Power Cougar Impact Scholarship Program
benefits students that have graduated from Texas City ISD or La Marque ISD.

The Scholarship
The award is a one year scholarship for a qualified student in the amount of $1,500. The award will be made
to a junior student entering their senior year at the University of Houston and will be contingent upon the
student remaining in good academic standing at the University of Houston, making satisfactory progress
towards an undergraduate degree at UH, and maintaining a full‐time course load.

Eligibility
The qualifying student must have completed their junior year at the University of Houston and eligible for
senior status. They must have graduated from high school in the Texas City ISD or La Marque ISD.
The selection committee shall consider academic performance, leadership, community service, honors, and
career goals in making their selection. The committee shall determine the relative weight given to each
criterion. There are no restrictions to applicants based on sex, race, nationality, country of origin, physical
disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation.
Recipients of the award shall not forfeit other scholarships, grants, or awards to which they are entitled.
However, if a recipient applies for financial aid, the amount of the award may be used in calculating the total
amount of aid for which the student is eligible.

The complete application package must be returned postmarked no later than August 15, 2011 which
