[CCoE Notice] Faculty Work Load Policy Discussion at 11:30 am on Thu. Nov. 11

Dear Engineering Colleagues,

Recently, the Faculty Work Load Policy in Texas has attracted national attention, e.g., see the attached article "Put a Price on Professors" from the Wall Street Journal.

The faculty work load policy might impact not only on how the faculty performance will be measured, but also how the university resources will be allocated in the future.  Given the severe budget cut that the state universities are facing, the Faculty Senate has been discussing this very issue with the President and the Provost.  Your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

The Engineering representatives on the Faculty Senate will host an informal discussion at 102D (Engineering Building one) starting at 11:30 a.m. on Thu. 11/11.  We thank Dr. Jack Wolfe for agreeing to give a presentation on "State Policies on Faculty Work Load" and lead the discussion.  Dr. Suresh Khator, chair of the College Work Load Committee, will also attend the meeting
