A mentor empowers a person to see a possible future, and believes it can be
obtained. Becoming a mentor and a mentee will help you be able to succeed
through networking and friendship. By joining the MAES mentorship program
members, underclassmen will have the opportunity to gain better a better
understanding of what being a college student is, while upperclassmen will
have the opportunity to help motivate younger members.This program accepts
all members from every classification and major. If you are interested in

*Symposium*
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Date: November 7 - November 11, 2018

Interested in professional development, career fairs, conferences,
internships or making life-long memories with your MAES familia? This year
MAES has teamed up with SHPE national for their national conference in
Cleveland, Ohio! At this conference members will have the opportunity to
not only develop their professional skills and talk to companies, but also
meet MAES and SHPE chapters from all across the country! If you are a paid
MAES member and are interested in participating please email our VP of
events at uh.maes.events at gmail.com. Prices for this conference are at an
early bird price and will increase as the conference gets closer! The
sooner you let  us know you want to participate, the better!
*Freshmen Sponsorship for Symposium!!*
UH MAES will be sponsoring two future dedicated MAES freshmen for our
national conference! If you are a new incoming freshmen for the Fall 2018
year and are interested in our annual conference you could be elected for a
free, all expenses paid trip! Freshmen interested will need to:
- Write an essay on the topic: Why did you pick MAES and what are your
goals as a freshman?
   12 pt font, 1" margins, Times New Roman, 2 pages max

- Submit the essay through email, with the subject: Freshman Sponsorship,
to the VP of Events at : uh.maes.events at gmail.com
- Make sure to include your Name, major and peoplesoft ID in the email!

All essays should be submitted to the VP of events by September 15th at
11:59pm. The two winners (a male and a female) will be announced at our 3rd
General Meeting on September 25th!

*Railroad Commission of Texas*

The commission has some gigantic projects that are a conglomerate of a
bunch of things. For example, the Water Quality Point Layer title has 254
counties with 40 hours on average worked per county. Essentially dozens
upon dozens of students could be preoccupied with this large scale project
throughout an entire semester.
