BECOME A SEEK MENTOR
Who are our Mentors?

SEEK recruits NSBE and SHPE collegiate and alumni members to serve as Mentors. Our Mentors are tasked with teaching engineering concepts in a fun and motivating environment. They are part friend, part counselor, part teacher, and the foundation upon which the SEEK program is built. All Mentors are required to go through a week of training and preparation prior to the program starting. Training focuses on child and program safety, leadership, classroom management, and curriculum implementation.

Mentor Experience
*        Collaboratively work with your peers to instruct and manage a classroom of elementary or middle school students
*        Teach general math and science concepts to students at age-appropriate level
*        Teach a variety of hands-on engineering toys with curriculum provided by various
*        Interact with local community leaders and various members/employees of our corporate sponsors

Program Details
*        Duration: Three (3) week program + One (1) week training = 4 weeks total
*        Days: Monday - Friday, One Saturday or weekday evening for Mandatory Parent Orientation
*        Mentor Hours: 7:45am - 5:00pm (may be required to stay later on select days)
*        Program Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm (some sites may start at 8am due to breakfast)

REQUIREMENTS:
*        Must be at least 18 years or older
*        Must be an active NSBE/SHPE member in good standing
*        Must complete medical screening
*        Must be able to pass criminal background check
