Frontiers in Science REU Program - Deadline March 1
The Frontiers in Science REU program provides students with extensive hands-on training in a multitude of physical and biological research methods within a research group at the University of Houston and/or Rice University. Interns will receive $4,000 for the summer program, and are expected to perform at least 300 hours of research. Initial invitations for interviews will be sent by March 14. After interviews, students will be notified of their status within a week. This program is only for students attending University of Houston and Houston Community College. Houston Early Research Experience (HERE) May 2016 Research Seminar - Deadline Wednesday, March 23
The Houston Early Research Experience (HERE) is a two-week workshop (May 16-27, 2016) intended to orient students on the fundamentals of conducting research. The program is open to freshmen and sophomores from all majors. Competitive candidates have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA. HERE students receive a $1K fall 2016 scholarship and an invitation to join the Houston Scholars program<http://www.uh.edu/honors/undergraduate-research/scholarships/houston-scholars/> in fall 2016. Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) 2016 - Deadline Monday, March 28
The Office of Undergraduate Research is now accepting applications for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF-UH) program. The SURF-UH program awards $3500 to students interested in conducting a full-time, 10 week summer research project in any field under the mentorship of a UH faculty member. The student first secures the research project with the faculty member, and then the student and faculty member apply for the program collaboratively online. All continuing UH undergraduates with at least a 3.0 gpa who have not previously participated in the SURF-UH program (and are not graduating in spring 2016 or summer 2016) are eligible to apply. The deadline for the SURF program is Monday, March 28th.  Applications are available online at http://uh.edu/honors/undergraduate-research/uh-research/surf/index.php.

BoBI Summer Undergraduate Scholarship Program - Deadline Monday, March 28
The Biology of Behavior Institute (BoBI) is offering a summer scholarship to a continuing UH sophomore, junior, or senior student to participate in a 10-week research program during the summer of 2016. The research must be conducted in the laboratory of one of the BoBI faculty members,<http://behave.uh.edu/members> and the project must have a strong behavioral and/or neurobiological component. The BoBI Undergraduate Scholar will receive a $3500 award to conduct a full-time project during the ten-week program, and hence will not be able to enroll for course credit or receive credit for the summer research. Current SURF applicants who are applying with a BoBI faculty mentor may also apply to this program. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 gpa. The deadline to submit an application for the BoBI Summer Undergraduate Scholar program is Monday, March 28.
