Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS) - Spring 2016
Deadline December 2, 2015
The Office of Undergraduate Research is now accepting applications for the Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS) program for spring 2016. The deadline is Wednesday, December 2.  All full-time juniors and seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA, who have not previously participated in the PURS program, are eligible to apply. The PURS is a part-time, mentored research opportunity which awards a $1000 scholarship for the spring 2016 semester. Critical Language Scholarship
Deadline November 23, 2015
Are you interested in learning a language such as Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Korean or Urdu? Are you currently studying a language here at the University of Houston? If so, then consider applying for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program<http://uhhelpdesk.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvNS~wr7Dv8S~xb~Gv9K~yIUDf0qNNj7jCUxIz7~Pv~4&2=19162>.  The CLS Program is an intensive language immersion program for students of all academic disciplines. This fully funded summer program provides instruction in 14 critical languages<http://uhhelpdesk.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvNS~wr7Dv8S~xb~Gv9K~yIUDf0qNNj7jCUxIz7~Pv~4&2=19163>. CLS recipients also receive academic credit that can be applied to degree requirements. Current undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply. Interested in applying? Harry S. Truman Scholarship
UH Campus Deadline December 1, 2015
The 2016 Harry S. Truman Scholarship<http://uhhelpdesk.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvNS~wr7Dv8S~xb~Gv9K~yIUDf0qNNj7jCUxIz7~Pv~4&2=19164> recognizes students interested in pursuing a career in public service. Truman Scholars will receive up to $30,000 for graduate study including MPA/MPP, JD, MEd, MIA, MSW, MPH, and master's or doctorate degrees in fields that candidates go into public service. Eligible candidates are full-time juniors at the time of application, are in the upper quarter of his/her class, and are U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals. Competitive applicants will also have an extensive record of public and community service, outstanding leadership and communication skills, and are committed to a career in public service. Applicants must be nominated by the University and may not apply directly. The University of Houston campus competition deadline is December 1, 2015 and the national deadline is February 2, 2016. Barry Goldwater Scholarship

The 2016 Barry Goldwater Scholarship<http://uhhelpdesk.custhelp.com/rd?1=AvNS~wr7Dv8S~xb~Gv9K~yIUDf0qNNj7jCUxIz7~Pv~4&2=19165> is a nationally competitive award for outstanding sophomores and juniors interested in pursuing a research-focused career in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering. This merit-based award of up to $7,500 can be used for tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Eligible students are in their sophomore or junior year, have at least a "B" grade-point average, and are U.S. citizens, residents, or nationals. Strong candidates also have prior research experience. Applicants must be nominated by the University and may not apply directly. The University of Houston campus deadline is December 1, 2015 and the national deadline is January 22, 2016.
