The Houston Chapter of the

Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals

University Level Scholarship Application

The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) was chartered in 1992 as a non-profit organization designed to create opportunities for those in maintenance and reliability professions to network and learn from each other.

The SMRP facilitates information exchange through a structured network of maintenance and reliability professionals, supports maintenance as an integrated part of business management, presents a collective voice on maintenance and reliability issues and advances innovative maintenance and reliability practices. Finally, the organization promotes and supports maintenance and reliability education at all levels.

In 2005, a group of national members who reside in the Houston area decided to create a local chapter of the national organization. The Houston Chapter was officially formed in late 2005. The local chapter offers members the opportunity to network with other members in the area. The group meets once per quarter and hosts an annual Maintenance and Reliability Symposium (MaRS), which offers a full day and a half of education and networking.

The Houston Chapter of the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals will utilize allocated chapter funding to assist students who may be interested in pursuing or advancing a career in the Maintenance and Reliability field.
