[UH-PROMES] Workshop registration is now open for spring

You can now sign up to take an engineering workshop for next semester.  The link is at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Spr2013Wksp and has all the information there.  Let me know if you have questions.  Please only sign up ONCE on the form!  (You will not receive a confirmation email.)

Key points:

*         Workshops are not a for-credit course and are offered at no cost to you.  (There are a few exceptions, e.g. if you need a credit hour to maintain full time status.  However, in this case you will pay for the credit hour and your grade will be Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory, not a letter grade.)

*         You enroll through an online survey, not through Peoplesoft.  Use the link above to sign up.

*         Seats are allotted on a first-come-first-served basis.  Your application through survey monkey is time-stamped, so early enrollment is best.

*         Attendance at each workshop session is mandatory.  You will permanently lose your seat in the workshop if you have more than three unexcused absences.

*         Workshop students must come prepared to each session and be ready to contribute.  This is not a tutorial session.  It is "collaborative learning", which is a setting wherein students help each other to master the course content and solve problems together.  Those who continuously come to workshop late or are unprepared will be dropped from the workshop.

*         Workshops begin the first week of classes.  Those who sign up online but do not show up on the first day of the workshop risk losing their seat to another student.

*         If you sign up for a workshop and your plans later change, you do not have to notify us.  If you fail to attend on the first day of your workshop you will simply be dropped from the list at that time.
