(NAE) member to our faculty ranks — Dr. Hao Huang. Dr. Huang is an aviation industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience at General Electric and 80 patents to his name. In addition to being a member of the NAE, he is a Fellow of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a Fellow of the Society of Automotive and Aerospace Engineers (SAE). Welcome, Dr. Huang!</p>

<strong>Charkethia Mimms</strong> has been with the University of Houston for seven years, and has served as the Department Business Administrator for Petroleum Engineering since 2016. During her time in her current role, the department has grown extensively.
Petroleum engineering has seen greatly increased research expenditures, the recruitment of four NAE faculty members, and an overall expansion of the department’s size and reach. As part of this growth, Mimms has transformed all business operations and has
greatly improved processes, staying ahead of the near-constant demands of a quickly-growing department. From helping with the new building transition, to supporting the day-to-day needs of the department’s faculty and staff, Mimms has proven herself to be
a valuable asset who is capable of accomplishing anything thrown her way.</div>
