intact samples for thermal maturity estimation and OM type characterization. Measurement of intact sample material will allow the OM type analyses to be put into a depositional context. The spectroscopic techniques will be combined with other measurements
including Rock-Eval pyrolysis, vitrinite reflectance, registered thin section, micro-CT, and image analysis. The geomechanical properties of cores from multiple shale formations at different thermal maturity levels are also investigated with acoustic velocity
measurement.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
