We’ve received several reports of spoofed (faked) emails from individuals perpetrating to be Engineering employees and asking for help. The hackers are creating non-UH email accounts and using UH employee names (e.g.
kietluong@xxx.com, etc.) and sending mass emails to people on campus, hoping someone will fall for the trick and reply. This is no different than hackers using
UofH@xxx.com or anypopularbusiness@.xxx.com. Please be alert and only respond to emails coming from UH email addresses in your
routine communications. This is the one important reason why we all need to use our assigned UH email accounts (@central.uh.edu) as the official email account to conduct UH business. This is also UH policy, which is attached and highlighted.
