<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">Fannin Innovation Studio </b>was created to train experienced life sciences entrepreneurs.
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:
normal"><span style="color:black">Fannin</span></b> in-licenses technologies from local academic institutions, that we develop and de-risk internally<span style="color:black"> until it is ready to be spun out. In our hybrid approach,
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">Fannin</b> serves as both the management team and the seed investor, collaborating with the academic inventors to advance the technology. Our interns and fellows gain critical hands-on commercialization experience.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>With over 170 interns and fellows in the last seven years, this program has grown to become among the largest of its kind and is helping grow Houston’s next generation of CEOs.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span></span>I will share the context for creation of the Studio, how it is addressing the critical bottleneck to life sciences commercialization in Houston, and how it complements other Houston initiatives.<span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

Varadhachary is Managing Partner at <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:
normal">Fannin Innovation Studio</b> since 2013. Previously, Atul was President, U.S. Operations at Reliance Life Sciences, he also served for nine years as President & COO of Agennix, Inc.,
a late-stage biotechnology company. Before Agennix, Atul was Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co. where he co-led initiatives to support life science commercialization at Houston’s Texas Medical Center.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>He co-founded and ran Pratham Health (now the Niramaya Health Foundation), a preventive health program reaching 65,000 under-served pre-school children in India.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>Atul has served as Adjunct Professor at Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine and the UT School of Public Health, and on several company and community Boards, including the Greater Houston Partnership’s Healthcare Advisory Committee and on the
Jones Health Care Advisory Board.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Atul received his medical training at the University of Bombay and has a Ph.D. in Physiology from Johns Hopkins.
