If you should have any issues with contractor work at your facility related to this project, please contact me directly and promptly. Attached is a schedule of work at your facility.

The overall project program is to centrally control exterior access points into campus buildings in order to improve security, give UHPD the keystroke ability to lock-down facilities in case of an emergency, and greatly reduce the number and cost of keys issued and cores changed across campus. This is achieved via electronic activation and programming of nearly all exterior doors into each building. Once installed, access to each building will be completely programmable with any variation of OPEN business hours and LOCKED afterhours that you wish to program, in coordination with Public Safety Manager, David Sarkozi, and DPS Administrator Ronald Harris. Afterhours access will change from key entry to Cougar Card swipe at limited and designated entry points (generally at convenient locations to parking). Department business managers / directors / deans will have the same authority to grant afterhours access to any student, staff, faculty, or vendor that they currently authorize via Key Control. Adding and deleting access authority of any and all persons will be done electronically and quickly, on an ongoing basis in coordination with David Sarkozi. David can grant access to business managers to the UH BASIS software for departmental control of access programming and authorization. Once the Card Reader system is fully implemented at your building, current exterior door key cores will be removed and either blanked off or replaced with a new key core design. There will be at least one card reader and key override entry point into each building. Larger buildings will have more than one typically. New key issuance will be very limited to essential personnel only, by authority of AVP Malcolm Davis.

Ron Harris will be reaching out to you to discuss your facilities access programming and upload access authorities of personnel.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding the Campus-wide Access Control project.
