We are happy to inform you that these small changes mark the first phase of a larger update to the look of our engineering buildings, as we are embarking on a complete replacement of all exterior and interior signage.

So far, we have only painted a test section of the third floor in engineering building 2 which begins at the undergraduate programs office (E316) and ends across from the elevator bank where classrooms E321 and E323 are located. Soon, you will begin to see paper mock-ups of directories posted at major entry ways to the buildings and outside of critical offices and departments.

The purpose of these temporary signs is to solicit your feedback on the content listed on each of the directories to ensure that the information is as correct as possible when we order the permanent versions. However, the beauty of the permanent directories is that they contain interchangeable slides which can be replaced as information changes over time – for example, if the room number of a faculty member’s office changes, they can simply slide out their name and move it to a new location on the directory. New slides can also be ordered to replace out-of-date information.

We are extremely proud of the brilliance, talent, and hard work that thrives within the walls of these buildings, and we want to project that pride to everyone who steps foot inside. Moreover, we want to ensure that students, faculty, alumni and visitors to the Cullen College can easily find their way through our buildings – and as they are doing so, may get a sense for all of the cutting edge research and education that takes place here simply by the clarity and sophistication of the signage.

Please stop by this test section of the hallway on the third floor of engineering building 2 to see the paint and temporary signage and let us know what you think! Additionally, as we begin to place temporary directories outside of critical departments and offices, please check over the information contained in these directories and let us know if anything is incorrect or needs to be updated in the permanent version of the signs.
