The Kratos, and Phoenix systems in these building do not always reset themselves during a power outage. The only way to make sure that they return to full working order is to shut them down correctly prior to the outage. If this cannot be done because as you suggest our guys do not know where things are located or can’t get access to the buildings then shame on us as a university. I do not believe this to be the case. These guys are in these buildings daily and should know where everything is located. These building (SERC, SR1, SR2, HSC, etc.) can become a huge safety risk if the supply air and exhaust systems are not restored to proper working order. In getting down to do support, I can think of the difference between knowing all the equipment, where they are in each building, and going around the buildings listlessly looking for them. I can also imagine the question about access, as often sensitive equipment are in limited access areas. The best case scenario of course is that with the blips that really only last seconds, nothing will go “out of whack…” and it is just a matter of checking—still with the two limitations described above.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'>As Karl replied to Danny, we will do what we can do, but I am afraid that won’t exactly meet the order. In order to perform the task the high-voltage specialists need to collect data from both campus switchgears currently not available. You will be minimally impacted. Per the advice and assistance of UH Electric Shop, we will shut one main switch down affecting half the campus at 10:00P, then the other at 11:00P. In most cases your service jumps over to your buildings’ backup feeder after a brief interruption of one to two minutes.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Time of the events we are discussing are <b><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Sunday, July 14, in the early morning, at 12:00AM, 1:00AM, and 2:00AM</span></b><span style='font-size:12.0pt'> </span>(when your primary feeder is either turned off or back on, in some cases you will experience all three events).<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>For most of you, the outage will be brief, just <b>a couple of minutes of a blip to your building power, at the time points identified below</b>.
