Because the foundation of modern project scheduling methods focus on tasks defined as critical under conditions of certainty, project managers must often resort to expensive expediting late in projects or miss deadlines when tasks take longer than expected. He has over twenty publications in journals such as the <i>Journal of Operations Management</i>, <i>European Journal of Operational Research</i>, <i>Journal of the Operational Research Society</i>, and others. He is currently serving as the coordinator of the SCM PhD program and the associate editor of the <i>Production and Inventory Management Journal</i>.
