This is a call for nominations for the following faculty excellence
awards for the academic year 2012-2013. Please submit your nominations

<br>
<i><u>Fluor-Daniel Faculty Excellence Award</u></i></font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial">:
The highest honor accorded to a Cullen College of Engineering faculty
member, this award symbolizes overall career excellence. <br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman"> <br>
<i><u>The Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award</u></i></font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial">:
Given to a young faculty member, eight years or less from the date of
the doctorate, who has made an outstanding research contribution. <br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman"> <br>
<i><u>The Senior Faculty Research Excellence Award</u></i></font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial">: Given to a faculty member whose research effort has brought significant recognition to the research activities of the college.<br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman"> <br>
Nominations should consist of: (a) a letter of nomination limited to
two pages and (b) a copy of the nominee's vita. If additional information is needed, the committee will contact the nominees.<br>

The following rules pertain:<br>

</font><font face="Symbol">·</font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"> </font></span><font><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size:10pt"> </span></font></font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size:11pt">Nominees for the <i>Fluor-Daniel Faculty Excellence Award</i> must be full-time tenured faculty who have held a continuous appointment in the Cullen College of Engineering for at least <b>five</b>
academic years prior to the year of nomination. Nominees must
demonstrate excellence in all areas of faculty responsibility. The
selection committee will consider: (a) the significance and
national/international impact of the candidate's research or creative
activity; (b) evidence of outstanding teaching ability; and (c)
distinctive service to the College, the profession, and the community.
Documentation of quality teaching should be provided, along with a list
of all graduate students supervised, together with their current
positions if they have graduated. <br>

should be restricted to faculty who had joined the Cullen College of
Engineering at least three years prior to the time of their nomination.<br>

</font><font face="Symbol">·</font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"> </font></span><font><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size:10pt"> </span></font></font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size:11pt">No member of the Dean or Provost's office is eligible for the <i>Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award</i> or for the <i>Senior Faculty Research Excellence Award</i>.<br>

</font><font face="Symbol">·</font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"> </font></span><font><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size:10pt"> </span></font></font><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size:11pt">A previous recipient of the <i>Senior Faculty Research Excellence Award</i>
is eligible for reconsideration for the Award only in the event of
significant contribution in a field of work distinct from that
recognized in the previous Award.<br>
