If you have not already done so order your Spring 2013 books today or tomorrow. The Senate President (Dmitri Litvinov) expressed the fact that he thinks many of us weren’t clear of all the ramifications of not getting these book orders in by the deadline.</span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>From what we were told, the fact that we are not following federal and state law on this is hurting UH’s position w.r.t. funding discussions with state legislators on other topics. The legislators point to the fact that, on average, only 17% of our faculty submit book orders on time.</span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>We are past the deadline set by the University, but the state stipulates the latest deadline a University can set is 30 days before the class session begins.
