I just got back in town after a week away, so have missed all the excitement about the new phone. <div><br></div><div>I use a Macbook, and on my Mac, I downloaded and installed the Lync client from the UH IT site (as per John's email below). Having not attended any training sessions, I am not sure what all the client can do, but a quick test of calling home from my office just now worked fine. i.e., I was able to launch the Lync client on my Mac, and make local phone calls.</div>
<div><br></div><div>FWIW, I also clicked on the video call button (without making a video call to anybody), and that, in this limited test, seemed to work fine also, i.e., the built-in Mac isight camera lit up, and showed my image in the Lync client. </div>

for straight voice, the quality was every bit as good as my cell phone.<br>

Of course, if you need to use the telephone in areas that are noisy or<br>
where you need more privacy, you would probably also want to use a<br>
headset.<br>

The download from UH IT is a zip file, and the installation program is<br>
called "LyncSetup.exe" (both 32- and 64-bit versions). After you have<br>
installed the Lync software, you should then run Windows Update to get<br>
the latest updates. (My apologies to the Mac users, but I don't have one<br>
to try. Perhaps one of you can share your experiences with configuring<br>
Lync on Mac OS X.)<br>

The first time you run Lync, you will be asked for:<br>

Your Sign-in address: This is your UH Exchange e-mail address,<br>
