</p><p class="MsoNormal"><br></p><p class="MsoNormal">Monday, March 26, 2012, marked an exciting
milestone day for UH and the Division of Research when the U.S.
Department of Education designated UH as a <span class="il">Hispanic</span>-Serving Institution, or HSI. Under this designation, UH can now apply for Title
III and V program grants from the Department of Education.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">UH also can tell other potential sponsors — federal
and non-federal — of this designation. Overall, being an HSI opens many
doors for funding opportunities and DOR wanted you to know about this
important development.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Office of Institutional Research sought out the designation for the university. The
<a href="http://www.research.uh.edu/Forms/Proposal-Processing/UH-Title-III-and-Title-V-Eligibility-Letter" target="_blank">
official letter</a> is available for including with proposals, as needed or requested.</p>
