A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences, Neal is considered the father of modern chemical engineering and a leading educator in the field. While he could have gone anywhere in the nation, he chose to come to UH after a distinguished career at the University of Minnesota and subsequently played a significant role in bringing our chemical engineering program into national prominence.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:0in;margin-right:251.25pt;margin-bottom:10.0pt;margin-left:9.0pt'>Engineers and scientists from around the country will be here on Monday to participate in the event and share their personal tributes to Neal. I encourage our entire Cullen Community to attend all or part of the event, scheduled for Monday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in L2-D2 Engineering Lecture Hall. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:0in;margin-right:251.25pt;margin-bottom:10.0pt;margin-left:9.0pt'>It is important that we remember and honor pioneers and champions for engineering education, the engineering profession and the UH Cullen College of Engineering.
