Camille Meza, a CHBE senior, attended a Study Abroad program at our exchange partner East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) in Shanghai over the summer of 2010. We have an agreement with this institution to bring their students to UH for a 3+2 program, and over the last five years we have had ~ 15 students attend from ECUST. Some of them have continued on to the Ph.D. program here at UH and some have gone to other schools for graduate work. President and Dr. Khator also visited ECUST in the summer of 2009.
Camille was the first UH student to study at ECUST (partially supported by the CHBE Department) and we hope that we can grow this student exchange program. Furthermore, Prof. Jim Richardson (CHBE liaison with ECUST) will be visiting ECUST over the winter and will look to expand collaborations with them, including student exchange programs and possibly research collaborations.
Camille will present her experiences to faculty and students at the AIChE student chapter meeting in W122 on the evening of Monday, November 22. While the meeting starts at ~ 7:00 PM, we anticipate the start time for her talk to be after 7:30 PM and perhaps closer to 7:45 PM. Please consider attending this presentation. Further, if you have additional ideas for Prof. Richardson, please share them with him and CHBE Chair Ramanan Krishnamoorti as they are exploring further opportunities to grow our relationship with ECUST.
Best wishes,
