Geotech Engineering and Testing will help you understand the basics
and importance of geotechnical, forensic and environmental issues and
the effects on building design and construction in Houston
area. Furthermore, there will be a new module on pavement
design of parking lots and design and construction of tilt wall
buildings. Mr. Eastwood will discuss; environmental site
assessment studies, wetlands, faulting, subsidence, geotechnical
field studies, laboratory testing, data analysis, expansive soils,
foundation types, foundations and risks, the effects of trees,
quality control, soil stabilization. The presentation will
include what is expansive soils, how to treat them for building
and parking lot design. The foundation types will consist of
void boxes, slab-on-grade, post-tensioned slabs, drilled
footings, helical system, auger cast piles, spread
footings, and concrete piles. Furthermore, Mr. Eastwood
will discuss forensic evaluation of distressed buildings in Houston.
The forensic presentation focuses on design, construction, materials,
environmental conditions, and wear and tear. He will discuss
concrete properties and placement issues.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
