1) Steven Pei and Student Exchange Committee members have met with Dr. Strickland to discuss university initiatives with regards to enhancing UH student participation in exchange programs. While the average participation rate on US campuses in international exchange programs is about 1.5%, we are currently at about .98% participation rate. The student exchange committee will work on the following tasks:

* Based on discussion with Strickland and materials obtained during and after the meeting, they will summarize best practices in different colleges with regards to starting exchange programs and with regards to getting students to participate. The best practices will be documented in a summary document, which can, through the faculty senate, be forwarded to different colleges and departments interested in enhancing their student exchange efforts (Steven Pei and committee members)

* A relationship will be established with UNAM in Mexico City and a representative will visit to explore options with regards to collaborating in the domain of art, art history etc. Mark will work on looking into funding for the UNAM representative to visit UH (Mark, Rex to provide information on contact info and CV of representative).
