Dear Cullen College Faculty,

Please see the message below sent on the behalf of Dr. Radha.

Thank you.

On behalf of Dr. Radha:

Dear Colleagues

Many of you are working on innovative ideas that have potential for commercialization. I had sent you an email about 20 days ago about the UH Energy Chevron Innovation competition where you pitch your idea and have a potential to win a cash prize of $25,000/-. I hope you will enter your ideas into the competition by Feb 9 deadline.

There are a few more pitch competitions in town with good prize money. Participating in those gives you a lot more experience in pitching your ideas and a potential to win big cash prizes as well.

It would be great if you get your entry into the following competitions. For two of them the deadline is today and for a few others the deadline is Feb 9. All you need to do is write a few lines about the idea and send it in. You can include the same description as you plan for the UH Energy Chevron Innovation competition. Once you are in with your entry, we at UH Energy will work with you to get you ready for the pitch.

The feedback from the judges of last year’s UH Energy Chevron competition was that several of the pitches were quite ready for entering the other competitions that I have included below.

After you have entered, kindly let me know so we can workout a schedule with you to get you ready for the different competitions. There is NOTHING TO LOSE. It is all upside – you will as a minimum gain a lot more experience and advice on pitching your idea and there is also a possibility of winning some big money. You can enter each of the competitions with the same idea.

I sincerely hope that you will enter these competitions. Remember for a few the deadline is TODAY.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Best Regards

Radha

The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI) and TEX-E have opened applications for their Energy Venture Day and Pitch Competition at CERAWeek, set to take place in the Agora program on March 20.

“In addition to the access to investors and awareness at CERAWeek, this is an invaluable opportunity to pitch in front of active investors, corporates and key players in the energy industry,” said Brad Burke, executive director of the Rice Alliance and vice president for industry and new ventures in Rice’s Office of Innovation. “The Energy Venture Day and Pitch Competition at CERAWeek is a platform designed to foster innovation, collaboration and investment in the ever-evolving energy landscape.”

The pitch day will feature more than 40 energy ventures driving efficiency and advancements toward the energy transition showcasing their companies. The fast-paced competition is designed to connect energy startups with venture capitalists, corporate innovation groups, industry leaders, academics and service providers.

With mentorship leading up to the competition, these student startups will compete for $50,000 in cash prizes.

“The goal of the TEX-E Prize is to support, encourage and inspire students across the state of Texas to pursue entrepreneurship as a means of reducing emissions and building a healthier, more resilient society,” said David Pruner, executive director at TEX-E.

Energy ventures for all tracks of the competition are asked to apply by Feb. 9.
