Command Strategies (CS) will be providing interested UH faculty with an overview of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) on 12 April 2024 at 11 am.  With the full release of the FY 2024 budget, CDMRP now has open funding opportunities.   CS will provide a program overview and share insights into how this program differs from other DOD and non-DOD funding opportunities.



Darby Arakelian is Vice President of Command Strategies, LLC, conducting defense and intelligence-related business development and customer engagement for industry and academia. A former US Intelligence Officer, Darby is a national security expert in strategic communication, intelligence, counterintelligence, and counterterrorism. She has been published for policy-related research on multiple national security topics. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Northeastern University, College of Professional Studies, program of Strategic Analysis for Intelligence; a former Research Fellow with Norwich University’s Institute for the Study of Culture and Language (ISCL) and a co-editor of the ISCL’s journal, The Journal of Culture, Language and International Security (JCLIS).  Select publications authored / co-authored by Ms. Arakelian include: Channeling Malinowski: Advancing SOF Cultural Engagement through Qualitative Approaches, (co-author Dr. Robert Greene Sands), 2018; Communication Strategy: How to Forge One that Wins (Tampa: JSOU, 2015) (co-author: James Farwell); “Mubarak 2.0 – Egypt’s Convenient Democracy,” Journal of Culture, Language and International Security, Winter 2015.



Ken Blank is a demonstrated innovative and effective academic leader in building high impact, sustainable use-inspired research programs that result in practical solutions to critical national problems through technology development and commercialization.  He has a proven ability to engage industry, mission oriented government agencies, and universities in productive collaboration.  These key alliances increase funded research to support the development of new emerging technologies and contribute to successful technology commercialization, technology park development and workforce-related programs. Blank has served as Vice Provost for Research at three R1 universities. Each of these institutions successfully increased metrics in research revenue and technology commercialization during his tenure. He serves on the Board of Directors of The New Jersey Innovation Institute (Newark, NJ) and is a Fellow and Board member of The National Academy of Inventors. Blank is presently a Senior Advisor at Command Strategies.
