Dear Engineering Faculty,
To the Undergraduate Research Community,
The Office of Undergraduate Research and Major Awards is now accepting applications for the new, year-long 2024 Energy Scholars program as well as the Spring 2024 Provost’s Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS). Undergraduate students who participate in faculty-mentored research have unique opportunities to develop critical thinking and communication skills, contribute to their academic disciplines, and sharpen their leadership and collaboration skills. With additional funding this year, this is a great time to connect an undergraduate student to your existing project!
The Energy Scholars Program<https://cloudapps.uh.edu/sendit/l/02pMVwdnCJS2DKdeloAnLA/OjUyFvSo6kw5L5nyN8923fLw/R2ITvL2AlQiBTJW47637kU5Q> provides undergraduate students the opportunity to work on a year-long energy-related project under the direction of a UH faculty mentor. Participants will receive a $6,000 scholarship to work on their project in the spring, summer, and fall semesters of 2024. Additionally, faculty mentors will receive a $1,000 stipend for their participation. The program is open to students of all disciplines with at least a 3.0 GPA who are interested in working on a research project related to energy. Please note that students may not participate in Energy Scholars while enrolled in the Senior Honors Thesis program. Applications for the Energy Scholars Program are due by November 6, 2023.
The Provost’s Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS)<https://cloudapps.uh.edu/sendit/l/02pMVwdnCJS2DKdeloAnLA/sFl9ZgSo63kWTQSNY0PrZA/R2ITvL2AlQiBTJW47637kU5Q> is a part-time, faculty-mentored research opportunity available to all full-time sophomores, juniors, and seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA, who have not previously participated in the PURS program. The program awards participants with a $1,000 scholarship for the Spring 2024 semester. Please note that students may not participate in PURS while enrolled in the Senior Honors Thesis program. Applications for PURS are due by November 6, 2023.
