Seminar Abstract: This talk covers the recently developed physics-informed machine learning solutions for monitoring U.S. transmission grid. The machine learning algorithms and tools are developed from mining terabytes of phasor measurement unit (PMU) data in the U.S. The machine learning solutions developed for bulk power systems include missing value replacement, event detection, event classification, and dynamic parameter estimation. A large-scale synthetic PMU dataset created using the real-world data and a generative model will be covered. The experience in analyzing the large-scale PMU data and developing useful machine learning tools and algorithms will be shared. The discussions and findings help shape future development and applications of faster grid analytics, modeling, and monitoring.

Thank you.
