[CCoE Notice] SEEKING SPONSORS FOR 2023 Security & Strategic Trade Management Academy (May 2023)

The University of Houston and the Borders, Trade, and Immigration (BTI) Institute will host the U. S. Department of State’s Security and Strategic Trade Management Academy (SSTMA) from May 6 through May 20th, 2023.  Fifty (50) foreign trade officials from twenty countries will participate in a two-week course focused on nonproliferation and Strategic Trade Controls.

We seek volunteers from our faculty and staff to serve as sponsors to each of our foreign guests in our efforts to provide a "personal touch" and to assist them in becoming acclimated during their brief stay in the U.S.

No financial commitment is required - these officials are provided lodging at the Hilton University Houston during their stay.  All are provided per diem and incidentals for their meals.

Sponsors are invited to participate in social functions: Welcome Reception (May 7th) and Consuls General Reception (May 9th), tours of Space Center Houston (May 13) and Port Houston (May 16), as well as joining us for a series of dinners out during the course of their two-week stay.

Volunteers may sign up to sponsor a guest from a specific country, on a "first come, first served" basis.  We will host guests from Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, India, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Panama, Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
