[CCoE Notice] Summer Engineering Instructors

Summer Engineering Instructors,

The Summer Session is upon us and I want to provide you with some helpful information below that will guide you through the process of beginning your summer semester.

1.      Training Sessions: We will be holding two training sessions for all instructors that will be teaching an online, Hyflex, synchronous and asynchronous type of classes this summer or this fall and who is in need of training on how to conduct live synchronous classes or how to record for online and asynchronous classes. We will be demonstrating how to use both Team and Zoom in conjunction with Blackboard. The training sessions will be in room E220 on Friday, June 3 at 1pm and Monday, June 6 at 10am. Please email JC McDonough at jcmcdonough at uh.edu<mailto:jcmcdonough at uh.edu> to let him know which session you will be able to attend. We look forward to seeing you there and as always please let JC  know if you have any classroom needs as you teach your synchronous and asynchronous classes.

2.      Blackboard/Teams: If you intend to use Blackboard and or Teams to help with your instruction you will need to submit a request through the Course Request System on Access UH<https://accessuh.uh.edu/>. A Team site is automatically created at the same time your Blackboard site is created. •         If you have more than one section for the same class (face to face/Online) then request that the sections be merged as indicated in step 5B: How to Request a Blackboard/Teams Course – Instruction @ UH<https://www.instruction.uh.edu/knowledgebase/how-to-request-a-course-in-blackboard-learn/>

•         If you desire content be copied from a previous semester, request it as indicated in step 7: How to Request a Blackboard/Teams Course – Instruction @ UH<https://www.instruction.uh.edu/knowledgebase/how-to-request-a-course-in-blackboard-learn/>

3.       Classroom Technology: If you will be teaching a class with a face to face component, it would be a good idea for you to visit your assigned classroom to check out the technology and ensure you know how to use it with Team or Zoom. You can make an appointment with me to visit the classroom or the Classroom Technology Department<https://uh.edu/infotech/services/facilities-equipment/classrooms/request-training/>. Engineering classrooms that are not listed are generally set up with a webcam and computer.
