Spring 2022 Engineering Instructors,

The Spring semester is upon us and I want to help you with the challenges that you face ahead. I have provided information below that will guide you through the process of beginning another challenging semester.

1.      Blackboard: If you intend to use Blackboard and or Teams to help with your instruction you will need to submit a request through the Course Request System on Access UH<https://accessuh.uh.edu/>. A Team site is automatically created at the same time your Blackboard site is created. •         If you have more than one section for the same class (face to face/Online) then request that the sections be merged as indicated in step 5B: How to Request a Blackboard/Teams Course – Instruction @ UH<https://www.instruction.uh.edu/knowledgebase/how-to-request-a-course-in-blackboard-learn/>

•         If you desire content be copied from a previous semester, request it as indicated in step 7: How to Request a Blackboard/Teams Course – Instruction @ UH<https://www.instruction.uh.edu/knowledgebase/how-to-request-a-course-in-blackboard-learn/>

2.      Soft Opening: As the Provost has communicated in an email notification<https://uh.edu/infotech/services/e-comm/official-email/view.php?sendit=aHR0cHM6Ly9jbG91ZGFwcHMudWguZWR1L3NlbmRpdC93L0d1YzV2Y29wV1NRWDZybDdIRlkyRVEvWW5NUVVXMVZMVWNqTnJJRDVtMHpQQS9vb0hscExINnFCN2ZUVEdzRktnbFJn>, Faculty members have discretion in how to conduct the first two weeks of classes to address classroom density. With this in mind please let me know if you need assistance in learning how to use Blackboard, Team or Zoom to provide synchronously or asynchronously classroom instruction. Below you will find all the guides and video instructions on how to do this, but if you need additional assistance, please do reach out to me.

3.      Classroom Technology: It would be a good idea for you to visit your assigned classroom that you will be conducting your face-to-face class in to check out the technology and ensure you know how to use it with Team or Zoom. You can make an appointment with me to visit the classroom or the Classroom Technology Department<https://uh.edu/infotech/services/facilities-equipment/classrooms/request-training/>. Engineering classrooms that are not listed are generally set up with a webcam and computer. How to Create a Team

Your Class Team is automatically created if you submitted a request for a Blackboard shell. You will need to activate it so that your students can access it.
