[CCoE Notice] Best Dissertation Award

Dear Colleagues:



To recognize the value of the outstanding research done by our PhD students, Dean Tedesco instituted the Best Dissertation Award.  The award recognizes two graduating doctoral students from the Cullen College of Engineering. The selection is made based on the originality and importance of the research, and the potential for the student to make a significant contribution to the discipline. The first place recipient receives an honorarium of $1,000. The second place recipient receives an honorarium of $500.



This year’s (Fall 2022, Spring 2021 and Summer 2021) two best dissertation awardee are:



First Place Recipient: Thuy T. Le, Department:  Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Dissertation Title: Modulation of Zeolite Composition and its Catalytic Effect on Methanol-to-Hydrocarbon Reaction, Advisor: Professor Jeffrey D. Rimer



Second Place Recipient: Furui Wang, Department: Mechanical Engineering, Dissertation Title: Intelligent Detection of Bolt Looseness using Structural Health Monitoring Methods and Percussion Approach, Advisor: Professor Gangbing Song
