Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff,
Thank you for your hard work and ongoing commitment to the college. The formal transition to full in-person functionality has been a success so far, and we are in excellent shape to begin welcoming students back to campus in a few weeks. As a reminder, beginning Monday, August 2, all faculty and staff must return to campus full-time. This will allow us to make any adjustments necessary before students begin to arrive in residence halls on August 18. Classes are scheduled to begin on August 23.
While the return of our students is an essential step, I do not want to downplay the seriousness of the situation. This will be the first time that the campus has been at full capacity in over a year, and I understand that this may cause some concerns. While we have made great strides against the COVID-19 virus, we still must remain vigilant.
Health and safety will continue to remain our top priorities. The UH COVID Coordinator, along with the UH COVID team, are monitoring CDC guidelines and state mandates, and will make any adjustments to our operations as deemed necessary. Our goal is for the Cullen College’s full reopening to take place in the safest manner possible. Bearing this in mind, please also do your part to ensure our collective success. While the University no longer requires wearing face masks, I ask that you take your surroundings into account and consider wearing one when the situation calls for it, especially if you have not been vaccinated. Please also continue to practice good health and hygiene, stay familiar with the University’s official protocols<https://uh.edu/covid-19/>, and consider getting vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus if you are able.
I have the utmost confidence in our ability to welcome our students back safely and would like to thank you all for your work in getting us to this point. We have come so far and have learned a great deal. I am excited to take this final step with you all and get back to our normal operations. I look forward to welcoming everyone back very soon.
Warm regards,
[University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering Office of the Dean]
