Dear Engineering Community,

Please take note of the following advisories for the upcoming Spring 2021 Commencement Ceremony at TDECU Stadium on Saturday May 15:


General Updates

Please continue to regularly check the following websites for new updates and information:

Grad Photo Ops

The University will host multiple graduate photo opportunity stations around campus, Wednesday May 12 - Wednesday May 19 from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at the following locations:

  *   Cullen Family Plaza (near the fountains)
  *   UH System Seal
  *   Student Center South - Monumental Stairway
  *   TDECU Stadium

The Cullen College of Engineering will also have photo stations set up at the following times at Engineering Building 1, in the pit:

  *   Friday, May 14, 12pm–6pm (afternoon before the ceremony)
  *   Saturday, May 15, 8 am - 2pm (before and after the ceremony)

Please note that there will not be a university photographer present at any of these stations, so come prepared with your friends and family to take pictures yourselves. No appointments are needed, but please remember to social distance and wear a face mask.



Notification to Faculty

Hooding of Graduates
Due to COVID-19 protocols, the ceremony will not be able to accommodate on-stage graduate student hooding. Faculty who wish to still partake in this tradition with their students are highly encouraged to arrange a time before or after the ceremony at one of the above-mentioned Grad Photo Op locations.



Notification to Ceremony Attendees (Graduates, Faculty, and Volunteers)

Robing and Storage
There will be no designated area for robing. All attendees must come dressed in their proper regalia.

There will be no lockers or storage areas available to attendees. All personal items will have to be kept with you at all times. Footwear Advisory
Attendees are encouraged to wear practical, flat footwear, preferably with a grip surface on the sole. Graduates will be seated on the football stadium field, and the grass and stage may possibly be slick. Wearing heels is strongly discouraged.
