[CCoE Notice] Updated US News and World Report Rankings

Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff:

The last few weeks have been filled with uncertainty as we continue to grapple with the effects of the novel coronavirus. This morning though, I would like to share a bit of much needed good news with you all.


Each of you has worked tirelessly to continue our college's upward trajectory, and I am proud to report that our efforts are paying off. Yesterday, the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings were unveiled, and I am delighted to share that the Cullen College's ranking has increased yet again, this time to #67, up two spots from last spring. This is a tremendous achievement, especially when considering that the college was ranked #78 in 2013. In just seven years, the college has risen 11 spots on the list.

In addition, three of our departments also received increased rankings:

  *   Materials - #81 (up from #82 in 2019)

  *   Mechanical - #76 (up from #77 in 2019)

  *   Petroleum - #11 (up from #14 in 2019)

Thank you for all that you do for our college. I am honored to call myself a member of the UH Engineering family and I look forward to seeing our goal of becoming a Top 50 institution come to fruition.
