[CCoE Notice] Working remotely

Good afternoon,

For those who are or planning on working from home (remotely), please find attached the instructions on how to prepare and also how to connect to campus to work.  Please follow the instructions and test connecting to campus within the next few days so we can address any issues, in the event it becomes mandatory to work remotely.

When working remotely, you can also connect directly to the file server instead of using Remote Desktop to control your office computer (as instructed).  Both, however, will need to have UHVPN connected beforehand.  If you only plan on mapping to the file servers (\\netstore-1\netstore<file://netstore-1/netstore> or \\egrfs\share<file://egrfs/share> ), then you can open a file explorer window, type in: \\netstore-1\netstore<file://netstore-1/netstore> or \\egrfs\share<file://egrfs/share>, then press <Enter>.  This will allow you to work with the documents on those file servers without having to use remote desktop.

If you don't have Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel PowerPoint, etc.) on your remote computer, then you can log onto Access.uh.edu, click on Office 365 icon, then follow instructions on how to login and use the web version on Microsoft's website.

To view the college's main website, there's no need for UHVPN.  However, to connect to the college's intranet website, you will need to connect to UHVPN first.
