[CCoE Notice] Announcement of new research computing awards

Dear Cullen College Faculty and Staff:

As part of our commitment to excellence in research and academia, it is my pleasure to announce two new research computing awards for this spring. The details for these new awards are as follows:


Andrea Prosperetti Research Computing Faculty Award


The Andrea Prosperetti Research Computing Faculty Award recognizes tenured and tenure-track faculty within the Cullen College of Engineering who have demonstrated a singular achievement in the prior calendar year in the broadly defined topics of scientific computing and data science. Therefore, a faculty member is eligible to win the award multiple times. This award carries a $2,000 honorarium. The criteria for nominees and nominators for this award is as follows:



  *   All nominees must be full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty who have held a continuous appointment in the Cullen College of Engineering for at least three (3) academic years prior to the year of nomination, who have made an outstanding research contribution.
  *   Only department chairs in the Cullen College of Engineering can provide nominations for this award category.



Andrea Prosperetti Research Computing Student Award



The Andrea Prosperetti Research Computing Faculty Award recognizes graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who have made outstanding contributions to research in data science and high-performance computing as well as their applications. Therefore, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers are eligible to win the award multiple times. This award carries a $1,000 honorarium. The criteria for nominees and nominators for this award is as follows:



  *   All nominees must be graduate students or postdocs in the Cullen College of Engineering. All graduate students must hold a minimum 3.4 GPA. All nominees must demonstrate outstanding contributions to research in data science and high-performance computing.
  *   Only department chairs in the Cullen College of Engineering can provide nominations for this award category.

If you know of a faculty member or student who fits the above descriptions, please let the corresponding department chair know. This will be the first set of winners of these awards, so please help our college make excellent choices.
